Description of the contract
Due to the approaching expiry of an existing contract, the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham is inviting expressions of interest, from suitably experienced organisations with a proven track record in delivering high quality parent advice and support services across a range of educational provisions. In December 2011, the Government launched its programme to turn around the lives of the country’s 120,000 most ‘troubled families’: those experiencing multiple problems and disadvantage such as absence from school, unemployment, and causing problems such as crime and anti-social behaviour. The Government has estimated that there are 645 ‘troubled families’ in Barking and Dagenham. Having been piloted successfully, the Council is looking to continue providing a service that focuses on reducing unauthorised absence and exclusions, across a range of education provisions, by providing a targeted, whole family approach to ‘troubled families’. The service will contribute to the Council’s strategic approach in delivering some of its required targets and outcomes under the “Troubled Families Programme”. The new contract is expected to run for a period of two years commencing in April 2013. The award of the contract will be based on the most economically advantageous tender.
