Leicester City Council’s Economic Development Team have a requirement for Finance Training:
Background:
The Creative Enterprise Hub project is an ERDF funded project based at Phoenix Square and managed by the LCB Depot. The Creative Enterprise Hub team is seeking to contract with a number of suppliers to deliver bespoke workshops to creative industry SME’s in Leicester.
The overall programme of support has been separated into a number or packages around specific themes and topics.
The workshop programme has been decided based upon identified business needs after consultation with SME’s.
We are looking for one contractor to deliver three, 3-hour sessions on the following subjects:-
• Raising Finance
Using real life examples, attendees will explore the different options of raising finance and the implications of this for the business. This workshop will focus on how to raise finance from a variety of sources for example venture capitalists, angel investors, charities and financial institutions.
• Bad Debts
Chasing bad debts is an important aspect of running a successful business. This workshop will demonstrate how to chase bad debts and the legal options for pursuing a customer that avoids paying. The workshop will demonstrate how bad debts can impact on a small business and techniques on how to track of debtors and recover them without incurring huge costs.
• Introduction to Bookkeeping on a Budget
How to manage your finances by using simple tools and techniques including an introduction to free open source and/or inexpensive finance packages. This workshop will show participants how to manage their own finances, keep track of invoices, bad debts and cash flow.
• How to Price Goods and Services
The attendees will understand how to price services appropriately, taking into account not only materials but costing the amount of time spent producing into the final price. This workshop will link with the Negotiation Skills Workshop and highlight price points that can be used during negotiations. NB: the successful deliverer must be familiar with the issues the creative sector may experience in this area.
The trainer will be responsible for:
• Booking the training room
• Providing presentation equipment
• Ordering refreshments for participants if appropriate
The venue must be based in Leicester City to comply with our funder’s guidelines.
Potential participants are likely to be based close to LCB Depot and Phoenix Square and therefore the location of the sessions should be carefully considered to ensure maximum enrolment on the workshop.
Creative Enterprise Hub is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and therefore all documents relating to this activity will have to adhere to our funder’s guidelines, including the use of ERDF logos on any presentation slides and hand-outs. Creative Enterprise Hub team will be responsible for:
• Checking the eligibility of clients before enrolling them onto the workshop
• Marketing the sessions
• All booking administration
• Registration at the sessions
• Monitoring and evaluation with the participants during and following the workshop
A high percentage of creatives tend to have dyslexia, therefore Organisations should ensure their delivery methods this is taken into account in planning the support.
Where possible, we would like the support to be innovative and interactive with practical tasks and examples. Participants should be able to use hand-outs and templates during and after the session within their business.
