Description of the goods or services required

Glasgow 2014 is seeking to engage with an experienced engineering consultancy who can demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge and experience, a stable history and a track record in delivering the types of services outlined below:

Interested parties are required to complete a non-disclosure agreement prior to release of tender documents.

All NDA’s must be completed electronically and emailed to the above email address no later than the 25th April 2012 @ 12:00 noon. Glasgow 2014 would appreciate if the original signed NDA’s are posted no later than Monday 26th April by 12:00 noon.

Once the NDA’s are signed, the successful applicants will be invited to participate in the Invitation to Tender through the Glasgow eTendering Portal, Bravo Solutions.

Scope

A sound knowledge of the intent, objectives and requirements of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and The Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006, as it relates to the various use and occupancies of buildings.

Sound knowledge of the requirement of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 and the ability to perform the duties of ‘Designer’ and demonstrate competence.

An awareness of the relevant enforcing authority for legislation under which the fire risk assessment is carried out.

An understanding of the building construction design principles in accordance with previous standards and legislation.

Ability to distinguish between different types of fire precautions and fire safety measures required by the fire safety legislation

An understanding of the causes of fire and means for their prevention and detection

An understanding of relevant fire protection measures particularly means of escape and compartmentation

An awareness of the principles of prevention

The appropriateness and maintenance of fire alarm systems

The appropriateness and maintenance of fire extinguishing appliances

The appropriateness and maintenance of emergency lighting

An understanding of fire safety management, in relation to public entertainment venues, sleeping accommodation and other functional buildings

More precisely, the engineering consultancy shall demonstrate:

Experience in providing Fire Engineering Services for temporary construction and fit out, in relation to Sport Events, Music Festivals, Fairs

Experience in Scotland, outlining understanding of Scottish regulations and legislative requirements and a proven collaboration with the local statutory authorities involved in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games
