The House of Lords and the House of Commons wishes to give notice that there will be requirement for a main Contractor to carry out the works required in the basement of the Palace of Westminster in connection with the Fire Safety Improvement Works; which covers the following scope of improvement works:
Automatic Fire Detection
Public Address and Voice Alarm System
Emergency Lighting
Signage
Compartmentation works
Fire Suppression (Mist) System
Local drainage works
Mechanical Ventilation works (smoke clearance system)
All Builders Work in Connection with the above
The main Contractor will be required to coordinate all works on site, plan and manage access to the works in accordance with the access regime that will be set out in the ITT in due course.
The procurement exercise to select the specialist Fire Suppression (Mist) System has already commenced because the design has to be completed by the specialist supplier. The successful main Contractor for the FSIW to the basement will be required to employ the selected Fire Suppression supplier as domestic sub contractor
