The SME and graduate also benefit from academic support for half a day per week. We expect these projects to last around 12 months. 2. Research and Innovation Collaborations (R&ICs). Research and development support from an academic/research/technical team from the Knowledge Base* (e.g. university) into the business to develop a new product/service. We expect these projects to last around six to 18 months. 3. Capital Grants. These grants are only available to companies that also have a KEEP or R&IC and are designed to enable the SME to purchase equipment needed to develop a new product/service that is linked to a KEEP or R&IC project. 4. Innovation Internships. These internships enable a graduate intern from the Knowledge Base (KB) to assist the development of a new product/service. 5. Innovation Networks. We will run 6 Innovation Network events, which will bring people together and encourage them to collaborate and capitalise on market opportunities created by these societal challenges. These networks will enable SMEs to network with larger corporates, Knowledge Bases and local authorities to find collaborative partnerships that can work together to solve a problem.
