Flow Country digital 3D virtual landscape model and game

Description of the goods or services required

This contract will create a digital 3D virtual landscape for parts of the Flow Country in Caithness and Sutherland, as part of the Flows to the Future Project being delivered by the Peatlands Partnership. It will also create a computer game focussing on climate change and the important role of the peatlands in storing carbon. The aim of these is to help inspire and engage people with the Flow Country.

Flows to the Future is a project being delivered by the Peatlands Partnership, with RSPB as the lead body. The main funder of the project as a whole is the Heritage Lottery Fund, but this element of the project also has funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

The outputs of this contract will consist of documentation of parts of the area (through for example 3D data capture and high resolution digital photography, data registration and photographic processing, the development of measurable raster point-cloud image deliverables) and archive of the data via a web portal. The tender documents suggest possible methodologies, but prospective contractors should make their own independent assessment of what will be required to inspire and engage the proposed audiences in relation to our messages and cost accordingly. The contract will create a rich set of interactive and inspiring media to increase public awareness and understanding of the rich natural and cultural histories of the area.
