Description of the goods or services required

Information for expectant and new parents is currently provided in the form of two books: The Pregnancy Book and Birth to Five, given to parents in the antenatal period and after birth respectively, historically this was produced by Department of Health and amended and translated to produce the Wales (bilingual) version of these books. Following the withdrawal of this publication by Department of Health Welsh Government have commissioned Public Health Wales to develop a new Wales version which combines the information included in both books up to the age of four years, in a shortened format.

• To have the new Wales ‘Pregnancy to four years’ book ready to print by 30 March 2014.

• To make the material accessible to all parents in Wales through careful design and formatting.

• To use photographs to improve engagement with the contents of the book and communicate inclusive messages

Likely length of book 200 pages A4 or slightly smaller if possible

To include:

Complete redesign of book using:

• Text provided by Public Health Wales

• Images from NHS Scotland Publications (copyright permission agreed )

• Photo shoot and / or procurement of new high quality images (approximately 20, subjects to be specified )

NB: Public Health Wales will facilitate access to NHS facilities and clients if a photo shoot is required.
