The Authority has a requirement for the continued maintenance of its grounds along with planned preventative and reactive pest control. Grounds maintenance services include grass cutting, pruning, weeding, herbicide treatments and minor tree works. Major Tree work and other grounds works are carried out as additions to the main contract. The Authority has an active environmental protection policy and works to protect and improve the diversity of wildlife and plant species on site. The Authority requires that this service is fulfilled by a site based grounds team with additional support from off site when required to cover absences, special projects or seasonal peaks in workload.
Note that there are currently 2 full time staff engaged on the Grounds and Pest Control contract. It is the Employers understanding and intention that TUPE should apply between the existing Contractor and any new Contractor appointed.
There is also a requirement for internal planting displays, owned by the Authority, to be maintained to include pruning, feeding, watering, cleaning and replacing dead, outgrown, non thriving plants as necessary and to supply a number of fully dressed Christmas trees to site between the end of November and the beginning of January.
The services are to be carried out in an acceptably safe and environmentally responsible manner and all personnel are to be suitably qualified and experienced for the nature of the contract.
