Conwy County Borough Council is seeking to procure a suitably qualified Contractor for the performance of the following contract:

Dyffryn Elwy Conwy Habitat Improvement Project.

The Scheme will comprise, but is not limited to, the following works:

Proposed intervention:

– Stabilize the banks by re-profiling using gravel bar material & brash to an appropriate angle for the area available.

– Protect the bank with brash & brash bales to prevent undercutting of the bank causing slumping and bank collapse. This will contribute towards much reduced volumes of sediment transportation.

– Use pleaching technique and use of brash where erosion occurs between trees creating bays.

– Improve and upgrade crossing points for livestock and vehicle access between fields. These will also allow access for livestock to water. (See technical notes)

– Erect drinking bays for livestock access to water. (See technical notes)

– Erect fencing and associated items along river bank to establish riparian zone and to exclude livestock to protect river banks.

– Erect Water gates in identified locations.

– Post revetment work – Re vegetate bare ground by seeding with deep rooted grass mix.

All works must be completed by 25th August 2015.
