Description of the contract

English Heritage is inviting tenders for a project that will contribute to the completion of England’s national Historic Seascape Characterisation (HSC) coverage by using the national HSC method to undertake a GIS based characterisation of two specified areas. The project will fill two current gaps in that coverage: the coast and adjacent English inshore and offshore regions from the Humber to Norfolk, and the northernmost part of the English offshore region off the east coast. The project will follow the latest update of the HSC Method Statement (Tapper and Hooley 2010), with practical guidance from recently completed national HSC projects, working in close consultation with English Heritage for further advice and guidance. The project will also ensure its outputs’ integration with the completed HSCs for adjacent areas. The project will also review actual and potential applications for HSC in the project areas, with special reference to its roles for heritage protection and a breadth of planning and other contexts. Further details are contained in the project brief which is available for download in the Supporting Documents section (see below).
