The University of Birminghams systems are core to the day to day running of its varying systems ranging from core business processes and research projects to servers required to carry out specific stand alone tasks. It is imperative that all equipment and software is maintained to the highest of standards to ensure these key provisions are provided to staff and students alike throughout the University infrastructure.
The intention is to establish a Contract with one or more suppliers for the provision of high quality, flexible yet robust support and maintenance for the HP and other hardware and software on campus for a period of 3 years with an option to extend for 1 year.
The running costs of this support and maintenance has become increasingly difficult to manage due to the flexibility required in the Service, therefore one of the purposes of this Tender is to achieve best value for money and added value.
Our hardware is mainly located in two data centres on campus, but also includes some out in the Colleges. HP hardware makes up the majority of hardware to be covered by this tender. This includes, but is not limited to, servers, blades and storage. Other hardware includes but is not limited to Oracle (ex Sun), IBM, Dell and Viglen servers, DotHill and NetApp storage, some printers, some HP Procurve network hardware and some uninterruptable power supplies.
