Description of the contract

Provision of a Consultant Microbiologist service providing medical advice on infection prevention and control to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The service to include the availability of medical advice for infection prevention and control at all times providing: Advice and support to the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC), the Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT) and other officers of the Trust as required. Board level strategic advice annually in reporting strengths and weaknesses of the processes to maintain surveillance systems and systems of management to minimise preventable disease throughout the trust. Assistance in the investigation and management of outbreaks Advice and assistance in the development of policies and protocols relating to infection control and decontamination and contributing to the infection control training programme. Advice on infection control issues relating to service developments, refurbishments and new builds. To include assistance in planning and commissioning. Specialist advice to officers of the Trust relating to food hygiene, water quality, decontamination and waste management and attendance at appropriate infection control and water management committees.
