Description of the contract
Over the last few years, the GMC has invested in market leading, enterprise-level business solutions to deliver robust and effective information systems to our internal and external end users.
This has included the implementation of a comprehensive data warehouse system, which is based on the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) platform. The GMC’s data warehouse supports a wide variety of complex reporting capabilities, delivering management information through dashboards and ad-hoc query tools.
Whilst our data warehouse solution continues to provide an important and effective service, it is recognised that there are a number of capability limitations that are impacting our ability to effectively analyse the wide variety of data sources that we have access to. These capabilities limitations can be summarised as follows:
The ability to easily analyse ad-hoc data sources (typically spreadsheets), performing cross-analysis against the structured data held in our core systems.
The ability to easily generate graphical visualizations (charts, geographical maps etc.) using data contained within our core systems and / or unstructured data (spreadsheets) referred to in the previous bullet.
The ability for non-technical end users to publish dynamic, interactive charts using live data to the Internet, through the GMC’s web pages.
We are therefore looking to implement a reporting solution that will complement our existing reporting solutions in order to deliver the capabilities outlined above.
