The project is led by West Yorkshire Police (WYP), acting on behalf of Police Forces of the Northern Police Insurance Consortium, i.e. Cheshire Constabulary, Greater Manchester Police, Lancashire Constabulary, Merseyside Police, North Wales Police, Nottinghamshire Police, South Yorkshire Police, and West Yorkshire Police.
In addition, the Insurance Framework will be open for use by all Policing Bodies of the United Kingdom. This includes all Police Authorities, Police Forces, Crime Agencies, Law Enforcement Agencies, the Scottish Police Services Authority, MOD Police, British Transport Police, Civil Nuclear Constabulary and the Police Service of Northern Ireland. UK Police Force also means their respective Police Authority and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) following their introduction in November 2012.

A Framework of Insurance Providers for the provision of Insurance cover and services to Police Forces and Police Authorities of the United Kingdom.
The Framework will be split into 12 Lots with further description found at Annex B.
The 12 Lots are:
Lot 1. Property Insurance.
Lot 2. Terrorism.
Lot 3. Casualty.
Lot 4. Motor Vehicle Insurance.
Lot 5. Personal Accident and Travel.
Lot 6. Fidelity Guarantee Insurance.
Lot 7. Legal Expenses Insurance.
Lot 8. Engineering Insurance and Inspections Services.
Lot 9. Marine Insurance.
Lot 10. Excess Layers.
Lot 11. Motor Airside Liability.
Lot 12. Motor Uninsured Loss Recovery Service.
It is anticipated there will be a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 insurance companies appointed to the Framework in respect of each Lot.
Once the Insurance companies have been appointed to the framework eligible Purchasing Authorities that choose to use the Framework will be required to invite all appointed insurers for the Lot relating to the cover they require to submit quotations.
It is envisaged that each insurance company appointed will provide a claims handling services, however, Purchasing Authorities may elect to handle some claims in-house.
This project does not include insurance brokerage or consultancy.
