This contract is for the removal and transportation of all bodies that are the subject of a report to HM Coroner, within the whole of the Isle of Wight. The successful contractor will be required to provide an efficient and sensitive collection and transportation service throughout the Isle of Wight at all times both day and night. There will be occasions where the successful contractor will be required to transport bodies to the mainland for postmortems. Currently bodies are transported to hospitals within Hampshire and London.
The successful contractor will be required to undertake all removals, regardless of situation or condition in a dignified and respectful manner ever bearing in mind the feeling and emotions of those closely involved.
The contract is for a period of three years from 01 June 2012 to 31 May 2015, with the option to extend for up to a further two years at the sole discretion of the Council.
The Freedom of Information Act (FOI) 2000 which came into force on 01.01.2005 applies to the contracting authority. If any Tenderer considers that any information supplied by them is either commercially sensitive or confidential in nature, this should be highlighted and the reasons for its sensitivity specified. In such cases the relevant material will, in response to FOI requests, be examined in light of exemptions provided for in this act.

The Isle of Wight Council reserves the right not to make any award and reserves the right to accept all or part of the tender.
