The proposed works will involve the following activities: consultation and installation of traffic management, formation / maintenance / removal of temporary traffic mitigation measures, removal of existing carriageway surfacing system, preparation of steel deck, deck plate integrity testing by MPI techniques and deck plate weld integrity testing by ultrasonic techniques and repairs as necessary, application of primer to steel work, painting of steel kerbs, application of spray applied specialist waterproofing, replacement of bridge deck expansion joints, application of machine laid surfacing material (surfacing material approval will be subject to a Type Approval Installation Trial, TAIT), application of road markings, replacement of lighting columns, replacement of normal containment safety fence with high containment safety barrier at carriageway edge/footways, replacement of normal containment safety barrier in central reserve and modifications to the existing deck edge parapet. The structural design and checking has been undertaken in accordance with the DMRB and the Specification is in accordance with the Manual Contract Documents for Highways Works (MCDHW). The contract type will be the ICE 5th Edition fixed price lump sum, lane occupation.

Selection of economic operators by the Scottish Ministers to participate in the procurement competition shall take place in accordance with the criteria set out in the prequalification document.
Economic operators should be aware that requirements to promote health and safety in the United Kingdom (UK) came into effect on 6.4.2007 in the form of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007. These Regulations enact EC Directive 29/57 EEC dated June 1992 in UK domestic legislation. It is intended for this contract, that the successful tenderer shall be appointed to fulfil the duties of Principal Contractor under the Regulations. Therefore tenderers shall satisfy the Client as to their competence and resources for health and safety and shall be willing to accept the appointment of Principal Contractor and the duties thereof in accordance with the Regulations.
Economic operators should be aware that all information submitted to the Scottish Ministers may need to be disclosed or published by the Scottish Ministers in compliance with the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
All dates and times referred to in 4.4 of this notice are provisional.
6 Tenderers will be selected in accordance with the selection procedure identified in Sections 6.3 to 6.9 of the Prequalification Prospectus.
