The Glasgow Centre for Population Health (GCPH) was established in 2004 to add impetus to the challenge of improving health in Glasgow and the West of Scotland, by generating insights and evidence, working to create new solutions, and providing leadership for action to improve health and tackle inequality. It was developed as a setting where academics, policy-makers, practitioners and local people can come together to confront problems facing population health in Glasgow. Although based in Glasgow, and focused on achieving improved health in the city region, the GCPH works on issues of national and international importance and has stakeholders and collaborations throughout the UK and internationally. The GCPH is a partnership between NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Glasgow City Council and the University of Glasgow, supported by Scottish Government.
One of the challenging aspects of the GCPH’s work involves keeping ahead of current policy and practice agendas, to cultivate developments in thinking and doing that are commensurate with the rapid pace of change, and to help establish new approaches better suited to fostering equitable and sustainable population health and wellbeing in the 21st century.
In order to sustain this future orientation and focus on innovation and development, the GCPH is seeking a collaboration which will bring expertise, insights and relevant networks to work in an integrated way with the staff team and partner organisations. This collaboration with GCPH will be central to developing dialogues, involving a broad community, about the future wellbeing of the city and its citizens.
