London Borough of Barnet is seeking to appoint an experienced provider to deliver the provision of services for young people with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities. This service will play a key role in our response to Section 140 Learning Disabilities 2000, Education skills Act 2008 and the Apprenticeship, skills Learning Act 2009. We are seeking submissions from potential providers to deliver these services: The commissioned service will:
• Assess each young person with learning difficulties and/or disabilities during their last years of secondary school education
• Support ongoing targeted interventions and be part of a multi-agency approach
• Identify a young person’s educational, employment and training needs
• Support a young person through their transition from school to further learning, training or employment
• Use a person centred approach
• Develop a transition plan and support the young person through the various stages of the plan
• Ensure that Barnet Children’s Service is able to fulfill its statutory duties under s140 of the Learning Skills Act (2000) and s139a ASCL (2009) learning Difficulty Assessment (LDA) The contract will be for an initial 3 years from 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2015 with an option to extend the contract up to one year extension subject to the availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
