The Council is currently working with a constructor to build a new 60 bed care home on Tanworth Lane, Shirley, which will provide nursing and nursing dementia beds. The Council needs to purchase beds at an affordable rate so that it can provide as many beds as possible within the borough of Solihull that can be accessed by Solihull residents when the need arises. We are now tendering for a provider to lease and operate this care home once the construction is complete. The provider will be required to supply 30 beds to the Council and the remaining 30 beds will be for the appointed provider to manage and sell to the private market. The proposed contract period is for 10 years from August 2019 to August 2029 with options to extend for periods of 5 years to a maximum contract length of 30 years. Exact contract dates are to be finalised in line with the build completion.
