Description of the contract
E-ACT’s two academies in Leeds (Leeds West Academy (LWA) and E-ACT Leeds East Academy (LEA)) are intending to tender their catering services very shortly with the new service expected to commence on Tuesday 22nd April 2014 following the Easter break. Although the contract for each Academy will be let as a separate lot or entity, it is hoped that bidders can demonstrate sufficient operational and financial benefits such that E-ACT decide to appoint a single contractor to manage both academies’ catering services concurrently. However E-ACT reserve the right to appoint to 2 separate contractors if this is deemed to be appropriate following evaluation of received tenders. The tender value shown therefore equates to the lower sum for the smaller academy over 5 years, and the larger to both academies. In both instances, the appointed Service Partner will be expected to fully identify with the declared aspirations of each Academy, sharing in their desire to deliver a consistently high quality of products and services to our students, staff, visitors and all other users. At both locations, we are keen to promote freshly cooked food and a healthy diet using locally sourced and high quality ingredients The Academies expect that their partnerships will extend beyond the normal parameters of the “client : contractor” relationship and the provision of core catering services. To this end, the Service Partner will be expected to adopt a truly proactive role such as supporting the provision of an apprenticeship placement within the kitchen at LWA, other “real-life” service opportunities for students, social skills modelling and involvement in the wider academy curriculum and other general activities. Both academies are co-educational, non-denominational and will admit students aged between 11 and 18. The Academies plan for the number of students at LWA to increase to from the current 1,191 to approximately 1,500 over a period of 3 years and at LEA to increase from the current 617 to approximately 1,100 over a period of 4 years. We are now looking for expressions of interest from experienced contractors to tender for either, or both of these contracts. The individual contracts will be let for an initial three year period with an option to extend for a further two single years.
