Description of the contract
Leicester City Council’s Voluntary and Community Sector Preventative Services review identified the need for the provision of low level support services to meet the needs of Carers – including those who may not have received a Carers Assessment. The services support the prevention agenda by supporting Carers in their caring role, to maintain their wellbeing and independence and to support them in having a life outside of caring. This will be achieved through low level interventions including training and breaks which should be made easily accessible to Carers. The aim of the services is to help keep Carers informed, to maintain and promote social interactions and natural support networks to reduce the risk of social isolation and to prevent Carers from reaching a crisis point. To support the Council to deliver the Leicester City Carers Strategy actions; to meet the requirements of the Care Act 2014 with the aim of helping to support Carers and prevent crisis. The Council recognises the valuable role of Carers in Leicester and is looking to establish high quality, person-centred, culturally appropriate low level Carers support services to promote health, well-being and independence amongst carers. In addition we are seeking specialist counselling support for Carers and services which will support partnership, engagement and Carer involvement in service development
