Description of the contract

English Heritage wishes to commission an innovative project looking to explore connections between lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history (LGBT) and the buildings and spaces around us. The project will seek to understand the relationship between LGBT individuals and communities and the places that they live, work and socialise in, with the aim of increasing understanding of this poorly understood part of our heritage. It will serve as a public engagement project working with community groups, an LGBT advisory group and the general public, and supply the heritage sector with tools and knowledge to further explore this important part of our national history. The project will be let as two stages. This brief is for Stage One. Stage Two will be subject to a separate procurement in June 2015.
