Library Services at the University of Bristol (UoB) wish to procure the supply, delivery, installation and maintenance of an integrated library radio frequency identification (RFID) self-service system into four of its largest branch libraries. The current intention, to phase the implementation over a five year period is dependent on operational requirements and the lead time, and could therefore be accelerated, expanded or re-tendered dependant on Library Service need and supplier performance. The initial contract will be awarded for the first phase only, with subsequent phases awarded thereafter dependant upon these factors.
Self-service offers the UoB the opportunity to maximise operational efficiencies, streamline processes, employ more efficient stock management practices and with system administration tools remotely configure and monitor operations from a central point.
Library Services will require athe new system to interface with both the existing Aleph library management system (LMS) and any future releases utilising the SIP2 protocol and to work closely with Aleph and the Library Systems Team to develop the required solutions. The appointed supplier will also be required to have had previous, demonstrable experience of working with other institutions within the sector and specifically library management systems.
