Leicester City Council is looking for a Training Provider to deliver the following event:

Event: Making the Change Work

3 or 4-day Training Event for Leicester City Council, Workforce Development to be run 10 times from June 2014 to December 2014. It is envisaged that individual events will be spread over 2 weeks.

The course will be designed for:
This training is designed for social workers from Children and Young People’s Services.

Purpose of the training
This training is designed to equip social workers with a good baseline of knowledge and skills upon which the newly structured Children and Young People’s Service can build and move forward.

Course duration we would expect
Three or four day programme (to be agreed with the successful supplier)

Course Venue
Training events will take place at a venue(s) to be arranged by Leicester City Council.
Course topics we would expect to be covered
• Setting the scene
• Children in need
• Looked after Children
• Safeguarding children
• Legal frameworks
• Planning for permanence
• Court skills

Details of each topic area and essential organisational and structural background information are attached below.

What we would expect to be included as a part of the training
• That the presenter(s) would have experience of delivering within the children social care sector and have a social work background
• The delivery to stretch and challenge workers-the training will act as an induction for some social workers and a refresher to others.
• The presenter(s) to link training delivery back to Social Work Practice Standards developed by Leicester City Council (copy attached).
• The training to ensure that the voice of the child is central to all stages of the Social Work process.
• Evaluation, use of research and consideration of cultural/heritage/difference needs to run through the entire programme.
• If the event is accompanied by supporting material, printing will be managed by the provider
• Electronic materials that might be used as a reference point post-event

Shortlisted providers will be invited to an interview to discuss their submission. To confirm that the presenter is experienced, credible and can communicate with the target audience, the person(s) expected to deliver the training should attend. Interviews will take place on 23rd April, 2014.
