1. Manchester Metropolitan University (the University) was awarded university status in 1992 and is the largest campus-based undergraduate university in the United Kingdom with a total population of more than 37 000 students. Our claim is to be the University for World Class professionals with an emphasis on vocational education and employability.
2. In order to attract students and provide a professional modern environment for learning, the University now has an extensive new build and refurbishment programme.
3. Manchester Metropolitan University (‘the University’) is pleased to invite detailed expressions of interest for the provision of the ‘design and construction of the Birley Student Residences — Plot E, including all substructures, superstructures, fixtures and fittings, mechanical and electrical services, drainage external works and external services’ in accordance with this selection questionnaire (SQ).
4. The estimated total construction value is 27 500 000 GBP (ex VAT).
5. It is envisaged construction for the building will begin by no later than the end of June 2018 with the building being operational by no later than the end of June 2020.
6. It is envisaged short listed candidates will be provided with the completed RIBA Stage ‘2+’ report and will be responsible for developing and completing the design and construction of the entire facility.
7. The project will be procured on a Design and Build Basis (shortlisted candidates) with a two-stage tender process.
8. The successful supplier will be engaged in a Pre-Construction Services Agreement with the University to develop a full design and contract sum for the works.
9. Providing 48 student beds. Office, living and learning space.
