2 Contract Details

2.1

Title

Port of Dundee – Marine Survey Works (P13-0128)

2.2

Description of the goods or services required

Suppliers must register interest in this contract opportunity through the Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) procurement portal – www.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk. The Invitation to Tender (ITT) documentation is availabe for download from there.

Suppliers should submit their complete tender through PCS no later than the deadline stated. Any queries should be sought only in accordance with the method stated within the ITT document.

It is proposed to extend the Port of Dundee by reclaiming land

from the Tay Estuary. It is estimated that approximately

1,000,000m3 of material may be excavated from up to two

potential sources of aggregate material in the Tay and utilised as

the reclamation material.

Bathymetric surveys will be undertaken by means of dual

frequency / multi-beam echo sounder, and sediment sampling

(grab sampling and vibrocore sampling) at the site of the

proposed land reclamation and from within both of the two

potential areas of source material covering (see Figure 1 below).

The surveys will seek to characterise an area of roughly 30

Acres (12.1ha) of the reclamation site and two 75 ha areas within

the two potential source material locations (one survey conducted

in each). The data will be used to inform the concept design of

the proposed land reclamation.

The purpose of the benthic sediment survey is to provide

sufficiently detailed bathymetric, seabed habitat (bottom type),

species and sediment quality information, to allow

characterisation of the seabed within the reclamation area and the

extraction areas, and to inform design and assessment of the

proposed reclamation works.

Further detail are within the Invitation to Tender available on Public Contracts Scotland.
