Description of the goods or services required

To work with a range of partners, including private sector representatives, SNH, Forestry Commission Scotland, the Local Authority, Visit Scotland, RSPB, Destination D&G and WWT to develop and promote the nature based ‘product’ of the Dumfries and Galloway region. The project has just employed a part-time officer to deliver a number of outputs and the contractor will liaise closely with this person to ensure that the overall project is delivered as intended and that partners get a “seamless” service.

Overrall Aims

– To raise awareness and develop understanding and knowledge of the nature based product of the region, particularly with local tourism businesses.

– To promote the nature based product to potential visitors outside the region, specifically to seek to increase visitor numbers to the region using a range of social media and other methods as appropriate.

– To continue the development of the Wild Seasons web site, as the prime tool for the coordinated promotion of the region’s wildlife and landscapes, and to develop the seasonal events programme as a key marketing effort.

This is a fixed-term contract running to the end of December 2013.
