Description of the contract

The requirement is for an agency to undertake a detailed evaluation of the Grow Wild pilot project in spring 2013. This will include gathering feedback on the following areas: Branding, messaging and tone of voice Grow Wild has developed a brand identity and key messaging. All aspects of the project including seed-sowing kits and the digital environment will use the identity, messaging and tone of voice. We wish to test the appeal and relevance of these with the target audience. Seed sowing kits Up to 5,000 seed-sowing kits will be distributed for the pilot. Each kit will contain: – two packs of UK wild flower seeds – soil-testing kit – site markers – Getting Started guide – USB wristband – lip balm These components are based on research with potential users in the early stages of the project and the pilot will allow us to test how they perform in a wider context and to refine the selection where necessary. Activities and supporting communication Each of the participants in the pilot will be asked to carry out the Grow Wild activities described in the Getting Started guide and to join the online community. Some participants will also be asked to trial additional activities – for example, mobilising neighbours to create a bee street. The Grow Wild website There will be a restricted access website for people taking part in the pilot. The evaluation will include testing the appeal, relevance, usability and content on the website. Community engagement programme As part of the pilot, there will be 10 pilot community engagement sites in the UK which will be delivered by lead partners Groundwork UK and Greenspace Scotland: – 6 in England – 2 in Scotland – 1 in Wales – 1 in Northern Ireland Partner organisations Grow Wild is partnering with a number of organisations which reflect its target audiences and its geographic reach. These include UK Youth, the RSPB, Girl Guiding UK and the Prince’s Trust and the evaluation will test the experiences of participants and leaders from these organisations. We wish to appoint an agency to undertake the following: – Design a programme for evaluation of all strands of the pilot (provided in detail above) – both qualitative and quantitative. This should take into account the need for a good mix of user types (both leaders and participants) and the range of geographical locations in the project. – This needs to include online panels, survey questionnaires and a minimum of one focus group per region (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). This list is not exhaustive and the supplier should suggest (and execute) the most suitable methods to capture the information. – Reports will be required in draft and final form. The final reports will need to be supplied in both report and presentation formats. – The ability to meet the timeframe is a requirement and any supplier who cannot meet this will not be considered further. The agency will be required to deliver: – Initial/ key findings: Friday 7 June 2013 – Interim report: Friday 21 June 2013 – Final report: Monday 2 September 2013 This contract will commence on 22 April 2013.
