The UK Press Office is based at National Grid House in Warwick. In addition there are five regional press officers who each cover a geographical patch of National Grid’s gas distribution footprint within the UK, divided into the North-West, East Anglia, the East Midlands, the West Midlands and North London. They interface with local media for any issues on our gas distribution network or schemes and projects, in each of their respective areas.
Currently, national press monitoring is emailed to National Grid on a daily basis by 7.00am each working day. These articles are emailed through to approximately 300 people within National Grid (including some based in the US) and external PR agencies on a daily basis. The regional articles are sent daily to a separate distribution list of around 20 people.
Presently, our media evaluation services are provided to UK and US monthly, quarterly with bi-annual reports analysing the volume, tone and favourability of the press, broadcast and online coverage we have received along with penetration of key messages, leading spokespeople and top journalists. We also receive bi-annual share of voice reports. We would like to combine these services in a single media monitoring and evaluation contract.
In addition, our existing journalist / media outlet database and press distribution system contract is to be reviewed. National Grid may also invite submissions on an annual media audit to benchmark our media provision and service against our peers.
