Description of the contract

NOMS are inviting expressions of interest for a Grant Award to support an organisation(s) that will give advice and assistance about resettlement to prisoners who have successfully appealed against conviction. The scope of the grant is broadly as follows: a) Processing an annual caseload of up to 50 cases per year of which half may be active at any one time. There is likely to be approximately five new clients per year. b) Provision of advice and assistance to clients for example access to accommodation, social security benefits, local healthcare services and other mainstream provision. This should also include assistance with practical day-to-day matters, such as opening bank accounts. c) Understanding the difficulties faced by those who have been released from long periods of imprisonment into a changed world. Individual case work support forms an important part of the work, though some advice could be provided by telephone or letter, rather than through personal contact. d) Working effectively with: • The Criminal Cases Review Commission • The Prison Service • The Royal Courts of Justice • Statutory Providers of services such as Jobcentre Plus, DWP and Health and Housing Services • Voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations e) Developing a sustainability plan for the service in tandem with Criminal Cases Review Commission.
