Description of the contract
In January 2013, the Government published the Consultation Paper ‘Transforming Rehabilitation: A revolution in the way we manage offenders’ outlining the Justice Secretary’s proposals for Transforming Rehabilitation. A public consultation on these proposals took place between 9th January and 22nd February 2013, with the Transforming Rehabilitation: A Strategy for Reform published on 9th May 2013. The Government has today published ‘Transforming Rehabilitation: A Strategy for Reform’, which sets out how it will transform the way offenders are rehabilitated and make progress in driving down reoffending rates. This Prior Information Notice (PIN) is to alert the market that the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) intends to let 21 contracts packaged into service package areas across England and Wales. The boundaries are detailed within the strategy document. Publication of this PIN and further market engagement will be beneficial to all key stakeholders and potential providers before the formal competition is announced in August 2013. The total value of the contracts to be let is likely to be between £5,000,000,000 to £20,000,000,000 and will be a mixed transaction containing Part B services and other elements. The value indicated is based on a ten year period. Any changes to the above will be advertised through the MOJ website. The publication of this PIN by the MOJ is a voluntary publication and does not represent an acknowledgement with regard to the applicability of procurement or other rules governing the potential future process nor a commitment by the MOJ to initiate, run or complete a full procurement competition in relation to the contract as described. The MOJ reserves the right not to run any competitions for the services.
