Description of the contract

Each year around 16 000 schools administer key stage 2 national curriculum tests and the phonics screening check. This contract is to work on behalf of the Standards and Testing Agency (STA) to: • provide monitoring services for the independent schools that participate in the key stage 2 tests; • collate and analyse monitoring reports data for schools visited by the contracted provider and by local authorities for both the key stage 2 tests and the phonics screening check; • produce a summary report and corresponding data files for both sets of monitoring reports; and • provide monitoring visits, data collection and reporting for other assessments as required during the life of the contract. This work currently equates to approximately 130 site visits and the analysis of 4 350 reports annually. The services required as part of this contract include (but are not limited to): • Recruitment, contracting and payment of monitoring visitors for independent schools • Training of independent schools monitoring visitors • Quality assurance of monitoring standards • Management of, and support for, independent school monitoring visitors throughout the monitoring period • Management and reporting of data in relation to all elements of monitoring for independent and maintained schools The contract would cover three +1 +1 years. STA is an executive agency of the Department for Education. It is responsible for developing and delivering all statutory assessments from early years to the end of key stage 3.
