North and North East Lincolnshire Councils are seeking tenders for the provision of Intertown Mowing Services. The service required will be to cut highway verges, visibility splays, and rural footpaths on classified and unclassified roads in accordance with an approved maintenance programme. The objective of all mowing shall be the maintenance of grassland areas in such manner as to improve visibility and assist road safety whilst maintaining and enhancing amenity and ecological value. The council wishes to establish a contract with an organisation or organisations that are able to provide the services for the following lots:
Lot 1 – Highway verges, visibility splays and rural footpaths within North Lincolnshire Area. To include approximately 1180km of roadside verges, 132km of rural footpaths, 75.81 Hectares of visibility splays, 10.9 Hectares of Amenity Low, 1.75 Hectares of Special Designated Areas and 5.6 Hectares of Verge Nature Reserves.
Lot 2 – Visibility splays and junctions to be cut under formal Traffic Management conditions (e.g. lane closures) to include:
A15 – Between junction 5 M180 and the Humber Bridge.
(approximately 60km of roadside verges, central reserves, slip lanes, strimming to fences/Armco barriers and 0.967 hectares of Visibility Splays).
Major junctions, roundabouts and verges (approximately 4.49 Hectares) The specification also includes for litter picking and weed spraying.
Lot 3 – Highway verges and visibility splays within North East Lincolnshire Area, approximately 261km, including approx 4000m2 of Verge Nature Reserves.
Tenderers may submit for one or any combination of lots. The council will award each lot independently based on the award criteria as stated in the Invitation to Tender.
