Description of the contract
General Background As part of the University Campus Development Plan the University have reviewed their strategy for parking across the campus. In particular the University propose to redevelop the South Car Park and Gun Barrels sites which will reduce the current overall parking provision on campus by approximately 425 spaces. In order to make this development viable replacement parking is required elsewhere on the campus. Scope of Works The University have appointed Associated Architects LLP, Ramboll UK structural engineers and Couch Perry Wilkes LLP, services engineers to develop proposals for a multi-storey car park adjacent to Gisbert Kapp. The brief is to provide approximately 400 spaces in an arrangement that respects the context of the area and relates to the recent external refurbishments of M&M, Muirhead Tower and Gisbert Kapp. An outline planning application has been submitted to Birmingham City Council for this development which is due for determination in June 2012. A reserved matters application will be submitted in June for determination in August 2012.
