The role of the fit-out contractor will be to construct and install the museum displays to a very high standard, commensurate with our aim of creating and maintaining an exceptional visitor experience.
The fit-out contract will include the construction, supply and installation of all displays and associated equipment within the new museum. This will be mainly within the new-build museum but there will also be some works constructing and installing interpretive displays in areas of the historic library building.
The Council wishes to appoint a main fit-out contractor to deliver a number of packages of work that will include the following:
Setting out, construction and installation of Set-Works including display plinths, structures and walls to include graphics, objects, Interactive AV and ICT Exhibits
Museum standard showcases
AV & ICT Hardware suitable for sustained use in public spaces
Production and installation of high quality, durable exhibition graphics
Design development and manufacture of reliable and durable mechanical and electronic interactive exhibits suitable for consistent use within a public environment
The supply and installation of lighting & electrical works to deliver power, data and lighting from the termination of the building supply to the displays and exhibits.
There will be a requirement for some elements of contractor and/or sub contractor design within the fit-out contract. These will be detailed in the Stage 2 tender package.
Access to the locations of the building where fit-out works are required will be made available in phases.
