New Nissan-Daimler Joint Venture to Create Opportunities for Automotive British Suppliers

UK Trade and Investment.

The new Nissan-Daimler AG plant in Mexico will produce
high-end car models as well as compact ones, they look for
international supply from its international partners.

Because of its strategic
geographical position in Mexican territory, the state of Aguascalientes
will be for the second time the home base of Nissan, which in alliance
with Daimler AG Mexico will establish a new plant in this city. The
plant is expected to produce high-end car models such as Nissan’s
Infiniti and a Mercedes-Benz Sedan model from Daimler AG, plus two
compact models from Nissan: Sentra and Note. Each production line is
expected to manufacture 200,000 vehicles per annum. This plant will
increase the Mexican production of Nissan to 1.3 million vehicles per
year.
British automotive companies already supplying to Nissan in Mexico or
other locations worldwide are prompted to seize this business
opportunity. This is also a unique opportunity for British companies to
establish in one of Mexico’s most active regional automotive clusters
where more than 200 multinational companies work inside a supply chain
that ultimately produces 350,000 vehicles annually.
