Description of the goods or services required

Provision of Object Handling services at the National Museums Scotland Collection Centre, Granton

The relocation of the Natural Science collection into a new building at the Granton site requires object handling contractors to assist the Natural Science department with preparation for aforthcoming move.

The object handling contractor(s) will be appointed to assist NMS with the exercise of classifying, recording and repacking the collections.

Overseen by a Principal Curator from National Museums Scotland and a Specialist, the object handling contractor will undertake the following services:

Carry out safe and effective movement and storage of objects within the NMS collections, including risk assessments and method statements as required;

Efficiently pack and unpack objects to current Museum standard;

Process and accurately record information to ensure that object location records and related documents are correct and up to date.
