There is a requirement for 62 Schools to have access to a centralised backup process over the internet, backing up SIMS, FMS (where applicable) & standard office documents. The service must be a Capita approved backup service.
The Schools MIS SIMS SQL Database must be able to be backed up Online, this Process is done by using CAPITA’s Dbattach protocol to ensure database SQL usernames and Passwords are not lost and data is correctly detached/ attached on the SQL Platform. CAPITA SIMS compatibility is a priority. Other Admin Documents will also need to backed up. A Central Server will now hold all the schools MIS Databases in one place but also office documents still at the school site will need to backed up also.
The service includes:
1.1. The Associated Software will be required to be installed onto each Device that requires use of the Service. One set of Security Credentials is required for each Device, and the Security Credentials may not be shared between Devices.
1.2. The Supplier shall provide the necessary Security Credentials or other details to allow the Council to generate the Security Credentials for use of this Service.
1.3. The Supplier will own/manage a primary and mirror data centre and the entire associated infrastructure.
1.4. The Supplier will host all school backup data (mirror copy for DR purposes)
1.5. The Council will provide first line/operational support to schools
1.6. The Supplier will provide first line support for software issues to the Council
1.7. The Supplier will provide initial training to SIMS Personnel
This Request for Quote opportunity is being conducted via the Council’s e-procurement facility, ‘The Chest’, hosted by Due North. Responses should, therefore, be electronically submitted via this facility.
Any questions or requests for further information should be made through the Due North portal, The Chest.
All quotations / proposals / document submissions should be completed in a format that is compatible with Microsoft Office 2003, and each organisation shall have the capacity to send and receive emails. PDF documents are also acceptable.
All proposals must be completed and returned electronically through The Chest – Due North (www.thechest.nwce.gov.uk) no later than 3:00pm on Friday 27th January 2012.
Bids submitted after this time, will not be considered
Bidders should note particularly the following advice:
You must ensure that you submit all your quote / documentation on time. You need to bear in mind that fluctuation in the speed and capacity of connection to the Due North/The Chest system, or the uploading of larger documents to the system can mean the process takes longer than you may anticipate. Any Tenders not submitted or not submitted complete by the stated deadline will be discarded. It is your responsibility to meet the Request for Quote deadline.
Halton Borough Council may discontinue the Request for Quotation (RFQ) at any time, is not bound to accept any quotation and will not be liable under any circumstances whatsoever for the costs suppliers incur in preparing the quotation.
All questions relating to this quotation must be submitted via The Chest’s Question & Answer facility. Please refer to previously asked questions before asking a question as duplicate questions will not be answered.
Decisions are usually made 2 weeks following the closing date of the RFQ.
