Blackpool Winter Gardens is a remarkable Grade II star Listed complex of buildings developed between the late nineteenth and mid twentieth centuries. Covering almost five acres, the complex represents the largest single development in the Town Centre, and sits at the heart of a number of major public realm developments and enhancements.
Blackpool Council bought the Winter Gardens in April 2010 with the intent of protecting a nationally significant Grade II listed complex and preserving it for future generations. The complex has undergone an intensive #7m programme of works to improve the condition of the public areas. The work has had a positive impact on both public perception of the complex and the levels of conference and event enquiries received.
Blackpool Council is looking for a partner to work alongside the Council to steer the process of developing the inherent opportunities of the site and its buildings to map out a successful and sustainable economic future for the complex. The process will require a partner or partners with wide ranging creative vision and an understanding of the current cultural, leisure and conference markets.
Organisations wishing to express their interest must register on The Chest – www.thechest.nwce.gov.uk and download the brief which provides more information. Organisations will be expected to provide an initial written response, details of which are contained in the Brief. Written responses must be received no later than 12noon on 22.5.2012.
The Council will select organisations who demonstrate relevant understanding and experience to participate in further dialogue as part as a soft market testing exercise to identify the opportunities available for the complex.
Please note participation (or non participation) will confer no advantage or disadvantage should the Council commence a formal procurement process.
