Network Rail is procuring eight (8) mobile maintenance systems from Robel, that will supoort greater mechanisation of the delivery of maintenance and campaign works.
Each train comprises of three vehicles:
1. Traction and welfare car;
2. Materials storage car;
3. Work unit.
To support the roll-out of these mobile maintenance trains, Network Rail will seek to contract in a service to operate these trains the contract to operate will include the provision of train drivers, routine maintenance activities and basic servicing of the trains.
There will be four trains deployed along the length of the London North Eastern Route, and one train on each of Anglia, Kent, Sussex and Wessex Routes.
The trains will be stabled strategically across the Routes and will generally operate within Route boundaries, returning to the depot at the end of the shift.
Trains will be managed and crewed by dedicated teams on each Route who will control deployment based on each Routes priorities.
