Description of the contract

Provision of an Out of Hours primary care service to approximately 800 personnel registered with the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM), HQ RCDM Clinical Unit, Mindelsohn Way, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B15 2WB for all students / staff staying within the vicinity of Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, Birmingham.(a) The Contractor will provide the Primary Health Care Out of Hours services which must be no lower than those of Local Primary Care Trust approved Out of Hours providers. (b) The Provider is required to provide telephone triage services & consultations to be carried out at the providers medically equipped premises or at home of the patients as deemed clinically appropriate. (c) The successful Contractor must be able to satisfy emergency, face-to-face consultations within 1 hour of any patient contact, be it at the patient’s home or from the contractor’s own fully, medically equipped premises. (d) The Contractor shall be required to provide from a pool of suitably qualified Medical Practitioners who hold the equivalent (or higher) qualifications than would be expected of a General Practitioner and ideally will have working knowledge of Military Medical Procedures & terminology. (e) Contractor’s personnel must be registered with the General Medical Council. (f) Contract duration will be from 1st April 2013 to 31st March 2016 with RCDM retaining the option to extend the contract by two years (potentially to 31st March 2018), subject to Annual review giving due consideration to, but not restricted to, Contractor’s Performance and / or RCDM`s continued need. (g) Contractors who consider they can provide the requirement and who wish to be considered for an Invitation To Tender, must express their interest by letter, facsimile or email to the Contracting Authority stated by no later than 1000 on Wednesday 19th December 2012.
