Lot 1 – The playout of the BBC’s Public Service Broadcasting for Network television channels within the UK, plus an option for the playout of the BBC Nations channels and any other playout services.
Lot 2 – The playout of the BBC World News channels.
The total value range stated in the contract notice includes a full 10 years for the entire scope of the services (across both Lots). The BBC may award a contract for between 5-10 years for each of the Lots, with extension options up to a maximum total of 10 years. The BBC reserves the right to reduce the scope of the services as detailed within the PQQ documentation.
The BBC reserves the right to award the services under two contracts or to collapse the Lots into one contract before Final ITT.
Through dialogue with Bidders, the BBC will discuss the length of contract, the scope of Lot 1 and the any rational for collapsing the lots during the procurement.
The BBC reserves the right to add additional channels to the scope of the services during the contract life.
Bidders are invited to bid for Lot 1 or Lot 2 or to bid for both Lots 1 and 2. Each Lot will be independently evaluated.

1)Short description

The playout of the BBC’s Public Service Broadcasting for Network television channels within the UK, plus an option for the playout of the BBC Nations channels and any other playout services.
Network:
The services under this Lot comprise of a fully managed service for the playout of all BBC’s Network television channels which currently include BBC 1, BBC +1, BBC 2, BBC 3, BBC 4, CBBC , CBeebies in their SD and HD variants, broadcast red button services and updates to BBC television and radio metadata services within a live broadcast environment
Nations (The Lot 1 Option):
Lot 1 also includes an option for the BBC to buy services and infrastructure to deliver transmission of the BBC’s Nations (i.e. Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) television channels within the UK and any other playout services. Please note that it does not include any other regional variants.

In the case of technology requirements, the BBC may involve its technology partner (Atos IT Solutions and Services Limited) to assist in the scoping and drafting of invitations to tender and/or the evaluation of tenders.However, the final decision as to which is the most economically advantageous (by reference to the award criteria) will be made by the BBC. The awarding authority reserves the right not to award a contract and to annul the procurement process at any stage. Tenders and all supporting documents must be priced in sterling and all payments will be made in sterling. The contract shall be subject to English law. The awarding authority does not bind itself to accept the lowest, or any tender and reserves the right to accept part of a tender unless the tenderer expressly stipulates otherwise in the tender document. Lot No: 2 Lot title: The Playout of the BBC World News Channels

1)Short description

The playout of the BBC World News channels
This is for a fully managed television channel playout operations service, including provision of, and support for, playout infrastructure required for transmission of the BBC World News channel as a global master feed, along with a number of variant simulcast feeds targeting specific markets around the world, currently seven (7) in total, in HD and/or SD formats with a potential for this to increase over the term of any contract awarded. In addition, certain associated creative services may also be purchased from the successful Bidder, including the production of editorial content such as continuity announcements, dynamic schedule filler material or other promotional content.
