Workforce Development (WD) is updating and increasing its pool of independent Practice Mentor Assessors (PMAs) to support and mentor Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) undertaking the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). As a member of the pool you will be approved to be a Practice Mentor Assessor, and offered assessment work as required by the Council.
A fixed fee of £30 per hour is paid, up to a maximum of 30 hours per candidate. This is paid at the end of the programme.
PMAs must be able to travel to different locations to meet and support ASYE candidates.
Essential Qualification Requirements: You must have a social work degree or CQSW, hold current HCPC registration and have experience of supporting and mentoring Social Workers, and/or Social Work students. You should also have significant post qualifying experience, with in-depth knowledge of current Social Work practice.
Details of Proposal:
The Practice Mentor Assessor will:
• Arrange & chair initial & subsequent meetings with ASYE candidate & line manager
• Ongoing reflective supervision
• Joint responsibility for Personal Development Plan (PDP) with ASYE candidate & line manager
• Attend supervisor meetings & development days as required
• Liaise with agency lead on ASYE about course & candidate issues
• Directly observe candidate & write up observation
• Meet s/user/carer and other professional following direct observation
• Meet ASYE candidate to give feedback on direct observation
• Complete checklist of practice relating to direct observation
• Support ASYE candidate to meet learning outcomes & course requirements
• To mark other candidates work as required by LCC
• Take part in agency marking panels as required by LCC
Demonstrate that the essential qualification requirements are met; we will be unable to consider submissions that do not meet these requirements.
Include details of recent experience of supervising and/or supporting Social Workers and/or Social Work students.
Demonstrate a commitment to anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory practice
Include evidence of report writing skills
Include evidence of skills and ability to fulfill the proposal details

Interview Date, if required: 14th October 2013
Contract Length: The contract allows for repeat commissions within a 2 year period with options to extend for +1 + 1 years at the sole discretion of the Council.
Training Providers Agreement: You must ensure you are able to meet the requirements in the attached Training Providers Agreement, including insurance levels, as successful suppliers will be required to sign it when the contract is agreed.
