- Post-16 Extended Home Tuition Service
- Halton Borough Council is pleased to offer an opportunity for experienced education agencies to select and provide agency staff to support specific groups of young people within the Halton area. The extended Home Tuition Service is a new service, with Halton Borough Council acting as the broker for a service which will link into local College provision. If other organisations, such as a special school, wish to tender for the service, applications would also be considered, on an agency basis.
We are looking to recruit teams of 3 staff (ideally 1 qualified teacher, 1 TA at level 4 and 1 TA at level 2) to provide home tuition for young people with the most complex needs within the Borough, who are not able to attend provision within a College or Training Provider in the traditional manner, but who require educational input. The education might be delivered within the young person’s home and/or within a local Family Centre, or at another suitable venue within the locality.
The initial requirement would be for an input of between 11 – 21 hours weekly, to include preparation time and travel expenses. Curriculum delivery would be in small steps and may be for just an hour, planned into small chunks of learning only.
There is an expectation that staff will plan for consolidation of activities within the community and will be required to factor in short local trips, visits to engage and challenge the learner.
Staff would be expected to develop and implement learning /Individual Education Plans each half-term. Plans will be discussed and reviewed at a series of meetings, scheduled throughout the year.
The educational content will be provided by the local College, alongside the quality assurance and would support our young people to develop independence, with a clear focus on the acquisition of life skills.
We would wish to recruit teams initially for 12 months but could be extended up to a maximum of 3 years.
Halton Borough Council is committed to providing high quality services and invites expressions of interest from professional, reliable and financially viable providers.
For more information about the procurement process and service, there will be a provider event held on the Tuesday 6 March, 2012 at Box 9, Halton Stadium, Widnes, WA8 7DZ, starting at 12:00 noon. If you wish to attend the event please register your interest through the Chest and send an email with delegates names to email@example.com&nbs p;(No more than two delegates per provider should attend)
