The partnership with the successful bidder has to deliver a key strategic objective for the HCS Department; that is the development of a graduate nursing, midwifery and allied healthcare practitioner workforce. Some of the workforce will become advanced practitioners supporting new ways of working.
The aim is to commence the delivery of the 3 year Pre-Registration nursing degree programme on island in September 2019 with an annual intake thereafter. A cohort size of 15 to 20 Adult Field students is estimated. A small cohort of Mental Health Field students every two years, from 2020 is desired. HCS can offer a wide variety of practice learning opportunities both within the hospital and in the community.
In order to enable continuity through at least three cohorts of both pre and post registration students, we expect to consider contractual relationships for up to nine years in total.
This is likely to entail an initial core period with extension options.
