The (GPhC) is the independent regulator for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy premises in Britain. It is our job to protect, promote and maintain the health, safety and well-being of members of the public by upholding standards and public trust in pharmacy.
The GPhC’s role covers a wide range of functions that ensure that pharmacists and pharmacy technicians reach the correct levels of knowledge and competence to join our register of practitioners, and that once they are on the register, their registration is effectively administered, including the payment of their renewal fees and demonstration of their continuing professional development (CPD).
Such activities will include (but may not be limited to) mailing to all 50 000 pharmacists, 24 000 pharmacy technicians and 4 000 pharmacy premises owners for their annual renewal notices, supporting our potential new registrants through letters and supporting documents relating to their pre-registration training and exams, and letters and feedback documents relating to CPD submissions for existing registrants.
As the regulator for the pharmacy industry, accuracy is of critical importance to us, both in order to ensure that we are able to meet our responsibilities to protect the public, and to maintain our reputation across the industry and beyond.
We require the Print and Mailing Service provider to:
— Accept data from the GPhC in spreadsheet form with details of key data to be provided in mail out letters;
— Provide mail merge facilities to transfer the data provided into the correct letters;
— Print letters, forms, documents as required;
— Provide mail-out facilities to distribute the printed letters as appropriate;
— Provide reports back to the GPhC on mail-out results.
— Provide robust quality assurance processes to ensure that any errors are exceptional, and to ensure the integrity of the operation.
— Store document templates ready for immediate printing when required.
The GPhC is now seeking to manage this through a managed service provider for a period of not less than 3 years, with the scope to offer a 1 + 1 year extension to this contract.
