Description of the contract

The Environment Agency is responsible for regulating the most polluting industries in England under the national Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR) regime. EPR covers emissions into air and water, and on land, as well as other environmental considerations. We must ensure that these emissions do not cause harm to the environment or to human health. The proposed training will enable our officers to visualise and apply the fundamental aspects of process and chemical engineering for industrial operations. It must cover the principles that provide the basic building blocks for design and operation of processing plant across the following sectors: • Waste storage & treatment – Hazardous waste storage & treatment installation sites. • Energy & Incineration – Power generation plants, Energy from Waste Installations • Refineries • Metal Production – Raw metal process installations • Cement & Minerals – Product manufacturing • Chemicals • Paper & pulp • Food & Drink – Large scale manufacture of food & drink products. We wish to appoint a training provider who can deliver high quality and cost-effective training to groups of Environment Agency delegates using their own materials. The training must meet the objectives listed below. Although there may be some minimal customisation in order to include reference to guidance or examples relevant to our organisation and the sectors given above, we will not be offering to meet further development costs. It is therefore likely that the successful provider will deliver using one of their own courses (or elements taken from more than one of their courses) matching this existing provision to our objectives.
