Description of the contract

Background Our client is currently recruiting for a Procurement contractor for a 3 month contract based in Leeds (with a possible extension). Main Duties/ Responsibilities You will have a solid procurement background and engage and develop relationships within departments, discuss the business needs and formulate a business pipeline. Outputs/ Deliverables to be achieved • Gain an in depth understanding of Directorate’s core business and to advise on the most effective commercial models that can deliver those requirements • To act as the first point of contact for procurement and commercial expertise for the client; fulfilling a role as a specialist business partner for all Directorates within the Department • To ensure that Directorates follow the Departmental and cross government efficiency measures • Provide advise on the management of existing agreements/ contracts for services, focusing on issue resolution but also developing a more proactive contract management offer to the business • Promoting the clients procurement policy and best practice ensuring compliance that mitigates risk • Provide appropriate benchmarking on costs and advise teams on budgets and projected costs • Work effectively with colleagues in the Procurement function, handing work over at the appropriate point in the project life-cycle Skills/ Experience Required • Experience of working with Senior Management to develop strategic commercial and procurement advice • An ability to develop sustained networks with key stakeholders internally and externally in order to develop relationship opportunities and maximise commercial opportunities • Established procurement as a central requirement for business planning creating and developing pipeline capability • Must be able to communicate effectively to educate and/advise stakeholders by improving compliance across the business • A thorough understanding of public procurement regulations and processes and experience in advising decision makers on the appropriate procurement routes to be utilised. • An ability to construct procurement strategies that lead to commercial outcomes that are effective and reflect the needs of stakeholders, • An ability to lead on high value, complex and strategically important procurement projects and manage the Procurement Support resources in the team to deliver key outputs • Healthcare experience is desirable. • It is highly desirable that you have commercial knowledge of contracting within the public sector. Formal Qualifications Required • Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or equivalent (e.g. MBA)
