Description of the contract
Background Our Central Government client is currently looking for a Procurement Lead to be based in Central London. This is an initial 6 month contract with the potential for an extension. This is an immediate requirement. The role will sit within the Procurement function that delivers a centralised professional procurement service to the Department. Main Duties/ Responsibilities •The production and execution of efficient and effective procurement strategies and plans to serve the needs of Department Directorates; •To act as a source of procurement and commercial expertise for the Department •Representing the procurement team, demonstrating the value the procurement function can contribute to the work of the Department •Promoting procurement policy and best practice ensuring compliance that mitigates risk •Work in conjunction with colleagues to ensure implementation of the centralisation of the procurement of common good and services. •Achieving and demonstrating cashable savings from procurement activity. •Provide leadership to Procurement Support resources in the team. Skills/ Experience Required •A thorough understanding of public procurement regulations and processes would be beneficial •Experience in advising decision makers on the appropriate procurement routes to be utilised. •An ability to construct procurement strategies that lead to commercial outcomes that are effective and reflect the needs of stakeholders, including Procurement Business Partners •Leading on high value, complex and strategically important procurement projects and manage the Procurement Support resources in the team to deliver key outputs. Formal Qualifications Required •Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or equivalent (e.g. MBA) Additional Comments Please note that the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Basic Security Check, which is at a cost of £25.
