Description of the contract

The British Library (BL) is one of the world’s greatest libraries. Its collection includes over 150 million items and around 3 million new items are added each year, including one copy of every publication produced in the UK and Ireland. As one of its core activities the BL provides high quality bibliographic metadata to the national and international library communities via a range of free and priced services. (see http://www.bl.uk/bibliographic/data.html for further information). To support these activities, the BL has created a suite of MS Windows software tools, utilities and databases to enable the customised supply of bibliographic records in data formats including MARC21 (MAchine-Readable Cataloguing) and RDF/XML. In order to maintain and further develop this tool set, the BL wishes to identify companies capable of undertaking contract programming services and set up a framework agreement to enable them to tender for specialist programming work. How to apply

The tender to select the companies for the framework will be undertaken electronically via the British Library’s e-tendering portal. If you are interested in tendering it is essential that you register to the British Library’s e-tendering portal, please follow the instructions below to register. Please note that registration is free and only takes a couple of minutes to complete. 1. Browse to the eSourcing Portal: http://www.bl.bravosolution.co.uk 2. Click the “Click here to register” link 3. Accept the terms and conditions and click “continue” 4. Enter your correct business and user details 5. Note the username you chose and click “Save” when complete 6. You will shortly receive an email with your unique password (please keep this secure) When you have registered and received your password, please follow the instructions below to express and interest in the tender. 1. Login to the portal with the username/password. 2. Click the ‘ITTs Open To All Suppliers’ link. 3. Click on the relevant ITT to access the content. 4. Click the Express Interest button in the Actions box on the left-hand side of the page. This will move the ITT into your My ITTs page. (This is a secure area reserved for your projects only), 5. You can now access any attachments by clicking the Settings and Buyer Attachments in the Actions box.
